New-ish Resolution

November 19, 2009

So, I often look at my friends' blogs who haven't updated them in nearly 6 months or a year and then I get frustrated... I want to see new pictures of their kiddos! Then I realize that I am in the same place. I have, over the last 14 months, used Facebook to update people on Elizabeth rather than her blog. Then in the midst of changing blogs and trying to decide if I was going to stick with it, I just blanked out.

Well, Dan has been encouraging me to write more... so here goes.

I am committing to update E's blog (this one, not the old one) on a more frequent basis. I won't promise weekly, because I know that such deadlines make me freeze up. (That's what 10 years in college will teach you!) But, faithful readers, I know there are a few of you not on Facebook... so this is for you. And so I can share some good ol' E stories, too.

Like yesterday, when she was getting ready to ride to school with a friend and said "Mommy, I really like it when I'm away from you."

Or today, when we were at McDonald's and she finally mastered the "climbing thing" and came down saying "Mommy! I was so brave and fearless!"

Really... where does she get this stuff?

She is still such a joy to us. Not a day goes by that we aren't thankful for the miracle of her birth. Well, some days we seem less thankful... like when she'd rather make messes in her room than sleep (yesterday: "Mommy, I ruined my clean room")... but we are still so thankful.

Here are some recent pics:

New Blog

When we started a website for Elizabeth 2 and a half years ago, we did so at the suggestion of a friend at church. She recommended Baby Home Pages, and we signed up. Because E's mommy is a snot, we opted for the "big time" one instead of the free one... and it comes with a minimal cost. But, over the last 2.5 years, we've realized how un-user-friendly her site is (on our end) and realized what a pain it was for us. So now, we've joined the ranks of everyone else and decided to use a free one courtesy of blogger.com. Hopefully this will allow us the freedom to update more often.

We've had a busy two weeks here in Johnston land. During WSFCS Spring Break, Elizabeth started potty training. She worked on it like a champ with Mommy Monday-Thursday, then Daddy took over while Mommy went to a wedding over the weekend. (Sidenote from Becky- if we ever have any more children, I fully plan on leaving town and letting Dan potty train. Both of them did great with it!) Elizabeth was super excited to see Mommy at the airport Sunday night!

Going back to school on Monday was a tough one for Little Bit. Not only did she fall all the way in the toilet (whoops.), but she got bitten by a friend. She's recovering nicely, and enjoyed a "bonus" day at school on Wednesday. (The director and teacher invited her to an extra day- we usually only do Mon and Fri, but since this week we'd miss Friday, she was lucky to go!) The sweetest part about her hard day was that her friend Jack came to her defense... he hugged her while she cried and fussed at the little boy who bit her!

This weekend has been great family time. We had a nice time at brunch with Auntie Jenny and Jim Jim on Friday, followed by a trip to the Farmer's Market. After that we enjoyed movies, yard work, and Easter Eggs this weekend, before the "big day" today of a visit from the Easter Bunny, trip to Reynolda Gardens, and Lunch with Aunt Betty, Dwight, Rozy, Cousin Courtney and Cousin Keith today. It was such a big day that Mommy is going to go wake E up from her "afternoon" nap... and it's nearly 6:00pm!

Thanks for checking out our new blog... Hopefully we'll see more of you!
